The "Volkssternwarte Darmstadt" was founded in 1969 as a local astronomy club in Darmstadt, Germany. At the moment, we have about 150 members and are running an observatory just outside the city. Major activities are in the fields of observing the Sun, planets and the Moon, deep-sky astronomy, CCD imaging and astrophotography. We also have an active youth group. About once per month, there will be evening lectures and seminars open to the public. Every two months, we publish a club magazine (also in German, of course). Within our observatory, we have a library with more than 600 volumes (some of which are actually in English).
